With Brian "Brain" Mantia as their new drummer, Primus started recording their sixth album The Brown Album in 1997. Les Claypool moves Primus further into the jazz-rock and progressive territory concentrating more than ever on the instrumental interplay of the band.There are no full-fledged songs on the album, the attraction of their music lies in the thunderous bass riffs, the syncopated drums and avant guitarplay.
