dire straits: communique

"Dire Straits' "Communiqué" is the second studio album by the British rock band, released in 1979. Following their highly successful debut album, "Dire Straits," the band sought to capitalize on their initial success with this follow-up, which continued to build on their distinctive sound characterized by Mark Knopfler's intricate guitar work and subdued vocals.

"Communiqué" is often noted for its laid-back and understated style, which contrasts slightly with the more dynamic moments of their debut. The album leans heavily on roots rock, blues, and country influences, and showcases the band's tight musicianship and Knopfler’s storytelling abilities in his songwriting.

While "Communiqué" did not achieve the same level of critical acclaim as their debut, it performed well commercially and solidified Dire Straits' position in the rock scene of the late 1970s. The album was particularly well received in Europe, where it topped the charts in several countries.
