Dark Side of the Moon is the third studio album by British blues-rock group Medicine Head and their final release for John Peel's Dandelion label. Originally issued in 1972, it appeared a year before Pink Floyd's much more famous album of the same name and remains one of the most intriguing records in the Medicine Head catalogue.

The album was recorded during a period when founding member Peter Hope-Evans had temporarily left the group. Singer and songwriter John Fiddler was joined by former Yardbirds and Renaissance musician Keith Relf on bass and John Davies on drums, creating a fuller trio sound while retaining the direct and unpolished character of Medicine Head's earlier work.

John Fiddler handles lead vocals, guitar and piano, delivering the songs in his distinctive rough-edged and expressive style. Keith Relf also produced the album, giving the recording a warm, spacious sound that allows the guitar, piano, bass and drums to interact naturally.

“Back to the Wall” opens the album with a compact mixture of blues guitar and determined vocals, while “In Your Eyes” and “Sittin' in the Sun” reveal a gentler, more melodic side. The extended “On This Road” develops gradually through reflective vocal passages and loose instrumental interplay.

“You and Me” begins the second half with one of the album's most expansive performances. Its relaxed structure gives Fiddler's voice and guitar plenty of room, supported by Relf's measured bass playing and Davies's understated but effective drumming.

“Kum On” adds a tougher rhythmic drive, while “Only to Do What Is True” combines gospel-influenced sentiment with the group's stripped-down blues-rock approach. The closing “You Can Make It Here” brings the album to a hopeful and melodic conclusion.

Curiously, the John Fiddler composition that gave the album its title was not included on the original LP. Fiddler intended to issue “Dark Side of the Moon” separately as a single, although the recording remained unreleased until it appeared years later on an archival collection.

With its intimate production, strong songwriting and unusual line-up, Dark Side of the Moon forms a bridge between Medicine Head's early acoustic blues recordings and the more polished rock sound of their later commercial period. This Big Pink Music edition presents the complete original album with 24-bit remastered sound in a deluxe miniature LP-style sleeve.
