Originally released in 1972, Electrified is a deeply soulful and highly collectible album by Ernie Hines. Long admired by rare groove collectors, the record gained wider attention after Our Generation was sampled by Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth on Straighten It Out and later covered by John Legend and The Roots.

While Our Generation is the album’s best-known track, the rest of the LP offers the same rich blend of gospel-rooted soul, warm arrangements and socially aware early-1970s feeling. Songs such as Electrified Love, Your Love Is All I Need, Sugar Plum (Gimme Some) and Explain It To Her Mama show Hines’ expressive voice and the polished production style of the We Produce label.

Presented from the original two-track master tape for an all-analog pressing, Electrified remains an essential rediscovery for fans of classic soul, gospel-funk and sample-friendly 1970s grooves.
