revelation

Virus came from the Bielefeld area of Germany and recorded Revelation after winning a band competition while still known as Man's World. The prize led to studio recordings under the direction of Conny Plank, and the resulting album was released in 1971. The music is a strong piece of early German underground rock, mixing heavy psychedelic guitar, organ, flute and long-form progressive structures.

The title track is built around a dark, extended variation on the feel of Paint It Black, while Endless Game, Hungry Looser and Nur Noch Zwei Lichtjahre move further into spacey, blues-based and improvised territory. This Garden Of Delights CD edition adds the two tracks from the first Virus single, Confusion and Facts Of Death, as bonus material.
