Evil Grave were one of the most enigmatic underground heavy rock bands to emerge from Malta during the early 1970s. Drawing inspiration from Black Sabbath, early progressive rock and traditional Maltese musical influences, the band developed a dark, uncompromising sound that made them one of the most popular acts on the island, earning the title of Malta's best band in contemporary national polls. Despite their local success, Evil Grave never released an official record during their lifetime, and their name gradually disappeared into obscurity.

Death From Malta finally brings together all known surviving recordings from the band. Compiled with the blessing of original guitarist and songwriter John E. Zammit Pace after years of research by Lee Dorrian, the album preserves a remarkable piece of Maltese rock history. Although sourced from low-budget demo recordings, the raw lo-fi sound only enhances the haunting atmosphere, revealing a fascinating blend of heavy riffs, progressive arrangements and occult-tinged psychedelia that remained unheard for decades.
