Originally released in Denmark in 1977, Financial Tycoon is the debut album by COMA, a distinctive jazz-rock and progressive fusion group whose music grew out of years of rehearsal-room experimentation and adventurous live performance.

Long treasured by Europrog collectors, the album combines sharp musicianship, playful surrealism and a free-flowing progressive spirit. Its sound brings together Scandinavian jazz-fusion, psychedelic rock, Zappa-like irony and the exploratory edge of bands such as Secret Oyster and Burnin’ Red Ivanhoe, while still retaining a very personal and unmistakably Danish character.

Recorded live in the studio with minimal overdubs, Financial Tycoon moves easily between tight ensemble playing, humorous vocal passages, open-ended instrumental sections and restless improvisation. The result is a colourful, unpredictable and highly collectable album that remains one of the hidden gems of the 1970s Danish underground.

This first official reissue by PQR – Disques Plusqueréel presents the album remastered by the band and expanded with rare live material, offering a fuller picture of COMA’s daring, energetic and experimental stage identity.
