Originally released in 1969, Forms And Feelings was the second and final studio album by the Welsh power trio Love Sculpture. Featuring guitarist and singer Dave Edmunds, bassist John David Williams and drummer Bob “Congo” Jones, the album moved beyond the blues-rock foundations of their debut towards a more adventurous combination of psychedelia, progressive rock, pop and classically influenced arrangements.

Dave Edmunds’ inventive guitar playing dominates the record, moving from the melodic psychedelia of “In The Land Of The Few” and “Seagull” to the heavier improvisation of “Why (How-Now).” The group also transformed familiar material with remarkable energy, including Chuck Berry’s “You Can’t Catch Me,” Bizet’s “Farandole” and an adaptation of “Mars” from Gustav Holst’s The Planets.

The album’s centrepiece is the extended version of “Sabre Dance,” Love Sculpture’s frantic adaptation of Aram Khachaturian’s famous composition. Driven by Edmunds’ rapid guitar work and the rhythm section’s relentless momentum, the recording became the group’s best-known performance and one of the most unusual British hit singles of the late 1960s.

This expanded Esoteric edition restores “Mars,” which appeared on the American edition but was removed from the original British release. It also includes the non-album single “Think Of Love,” four rare mono single mixes and the concise hit-single version of “Sabre Dance.”
