Mining the ground somewhere between folk and country—"honky-tonk stardust cowboy" is a pretty apt term—Jonathan Edwards made this record for Atco in 1972, and while it hit the charts, the label didn't really know what to do with such a country-sounding act or album, and it went out of print not too long after. Which is a cryin' shame, 'cause this is a fine, fine album featuring some great songs by Edwards and some well-chosen covers, with a crack band that numbered banjo wizard Bill Keith among its members.
