A late 60's jazz classic originally released on Atlantic's Vortex label. Lancaster, known for his work with Sunny Murray, Sun Ra and Memphis Slim, joins up with Sonny Sharrock and Weather Report drummer Eric Gravatt to create this subtle yet adventurous 1968 recording. "It's Not Up to Us" gracefully presents Lancaster's gentle phrasing while the closer, "Satan," invokes a dissonant, rollicking musical exorcism.
