A landmark and hugely influential release in Venezuelan rock, “Ladies W.C.” (1968) was groundbreaking on multiple fronts: searing psychedelic guitar work drenched in fuzz and wah-wah, a repertoire built entirely on original songs, and striking cover graphics that broke with the era’s usual band-portrait sleeves.

Like The Love Depression, this record has since become one of the most coveted and collectible titles in Venezuelan rock. This reissue features newly remastered audio from the original tapes, 180g vinyl, and liner notes.

The band was founded by Adib alongside friends José María Arria “Chema” (bass, vocals), Wolfgang Vivas (lead vocals), and Frank Rojas (drums). Their sound was so ahead of its time that bookings were scarce—they barely managed a single live show—and soon everyone except Adib moved on. Not long after, Stephen Scott and Mario and Jaime Seijas stepped in, fitting perfectly with Adib’s evolving passion for blues and psychedelic hard rock.

Recorded for the Souvenir label at Continente Studios in just ten days, the album was engineered by Ricardo Landaeta. Adib and Stephen shaped the song structures, arrangements, and lyrics during intense, all-day sessions locked inside the studio. Héctor Fuenmayor appears as the only guest musician, adding flute to “To Walk on Water.” At a time when many Venezuelan groups leaned heavily on international covers, Ladies W.C. stood out by presenting an all-original set.

Beyond the songs, the album’s identity is sealed by its unified, almost conceptual atmosphere—driven by heavily distorted guitars, expressive wah-wah, prominent harmonica, and imaginative sound effects, all wrapped in bold illustrated sleeve art.

The group’s lifespan was brief (1968–1969). When Mario and Jaime left Venezuela to study in the U.S., Adib joined them for a summer run as Ladies W.C. on the Allentown college circuit, but the band ultimately dissolved. Back home, Adib went on to join Sky White Meditation until 1972, while Jaime Seijas later played on another Souvenir-issued classic: The Love Depression album.
