Known as 'the guitarist's guitarist', Roy Buchanan was famed for his commanding technique, soulful style and innovative ideas. Born in Arkansas in 1939, he became one of American's most respected and influential guitar players, unleashing many satisfying and exhilarating albums, including 'Loading Zone' first released on Polydor in 1977. This set of powerful performances showcases his unique guitar sound, searing solos and shimmering tone, with the controlled use of harmonics. Jazz-rock virtuosos Stanley Clarke (bass), Jan Hammer (keyboards) and Narada Michael Walden (drums) play on several tracks, while guitarist Steve Cropper joins Buchanan on a spirited 'Green Onions'. As Roy Buchanan died in 1988 aged 48, 'Loading Zone' is an important part of his legacy.
