The Yardbirds are perhaps best known having invented the 'raveup' (long instrumental breaks in the middle of songs that wouldcontribute to the evolution of psychedelia) and because guitarvirtuosos Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck all got their starthere. But it was Jeff Beck's stint with the band from 1965-1966that perhaps most influenced the way guitar was played in the1960s. And not coincidentally it was also when Beck joined the band that the hits started rollingin.
