Jones chose songs which all featured people's names in the title, and musically it was a richly varied selection from the folk rock of Dylan's "Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll", through the rock & roll of "Boney Moronie" and "Charlie Brown" to the country blues of "Nosher Burns" (this was a cover of Leadbelly's "Booger Burns", but when EMI heard Jones' version entitled "Bugger Burns" they made him cut a new vocal using the word Nosher instead! We've included the original and censored vocal takes here). Jones also managed to include a couple of his own songs for the first time, something producer John Burgess had not allowed on the first album.
