Remember documents German group Virus in concert during the final phase of their career. Recorded in Cologne in April 1973 for WDR radio, the performance presents a substantially different repertoire from the material heard on the band’s two studio albums, Revelation and Thoughts.

By this period, Virus had moved away from the extended psychedelic atmosphere of their debut towards a tougher mixture of progressive rock, hard rock, blues and jazz-influenced improvisation. The prominent keyboards and electric guitar are joined by Jürgen Dose’s saxophone, which adds a freer and more rhythmically adventurous element to the group’s sound.

“Everybody Knows That I’ve Got That Feeling,” “This Is No Anarchy” and the title track combine direct rock songwriting with energetic instrumental passages. “Rock ’n’ Roll” and “In Any Way” reveal the band’s bluesier side, while “Living In The Country” expands into a longer performance driven by guitar, keyboards and saxophone.

“King Heroin,” originally heard on the Thoughts album, is the only previously released composition in the programme. The closing instrumental “Woods Fun” stretches beyond ten minutes, allowing the musicians to develop an open-ended progressive and jazz-rock jam. The professional radio recording gives the album a clear, powerful sound while preserving the spontaneous character of the concert.
