Little known outside of Peru, the great Coco Lagos was a naturally talented multi-percussionist who reigned as king of the Peruvian beat in the late sixties and early seventies. This album, released in 1970, two years after his debut on the great Peruvian MAG label, is solid descargas / boogaloo with Cuban and Latin jazz leanings. Check out great tracks like "Guajira Boogaloo" and "Coco's Descarga". And check out his all-star band, with none other than Mario Allison on timbales and Alfredo Linares on piano!
