Reissue of the legendary Ike & Tina album, consisting of six tracks produced by the studio wizard Phil Spector using his famous wall of sound technique. Originally recorded in 1966, "River Deep—Mountain High" saw its US release in 1969 under A&M Records. As the album's title track, it became the first of five singles and enjoyed immense success in Europe. Renowned for its intricate layers, this album stands as a pinnacle among Spector's famed "wall of sound" productions, a must-have for any comprehensive 60s music collection. Spector's meticulousness led to numerous retakes of 'River Deep,' with Turner recalling singing it countless times over several hours until Spector deemed the take perfect. Turner vividly describes the experience, mentioning, "I must have sung that 500,000 times. I was drenched with sweat. I had to take my shirt off and stand there in my bra to sing."
