MISSUS BEASTLY: Missus Beastly (CD)

Missus Beastly’s second self-titled album, originally released in 1974, marked a decisive move away from the heavy psychedelic sound of their debut. The reorganised group developed a predominantly instrumental style in which electric piano, flute and saxophone interact with agile bass lines and tightly controlled rhythms.

The seven studio pieces combine progressive jazz-rock with funk-influenced grooves and extended improvisation. “Fly Away” gradually expands through interlocking keyboard and wind-instrument passages, while “Talle” closes the original album in a calmer, more spacious mood. This authorised Garden of Delights edition was prepared from the master tapes and adds four genuine period recordings, replacing the unrelated bonus material found on an earlier unofficial CD.
