SUNSET LOVE: Sunset Love (LP)

Recorded in 1968 but left unreleased for more than half a century, this collection introduces Sunset Love, a psychedelic pop group from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their music combines bright folk-pop melodies, male and female vocal harmonies and gentle psychedelic touches, recalling the harmony-rich sound of the late 1960s while retaining a character of its own.

The band travelled to Westex Studios in Odessa, Texas, where producer Buzz Cason supervised a substantial series of recording sessions. Sunset Love expected the material to form their debut album, but changes at the studio left the tapes without a release and the group eventually separated during the summer of 1969.

These original 1968 mono mixes finally receive their first vinyl edition here. Songs such as “Change,” “Window in the Sky,” “Reach Out” and “Run to the Sun” move between dreamy flower-power pop, lightly psychedelic arrangements and more reflective material. The release is pressed on black vinyl and limited to 300 individually numbered copies.
