  • First-ever reissue of the classic 1970 album
  • Clear vinyl with black swirl

Elephant’s Memory – Take It to the Streets captures the gritty, politically charged sound of New York at the turn of the 1970s. Originally released on Metromedia in 1970, the album mixes psychedelic rock, funk, soul and hard-edged street rock with prominent saxophone, guitar and powerful ensemble playing.

Led by saxophonist and vocalist Stan Bronstein, Elephant’s Memory had already established themselves as part of the Greenwich Village counterculture before becoming widely known for their later association with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The group would back Lennon and Ono on projects including Some Time in New York City and Live in New York City.

Take It to the Streets opens with “Mongoose”, the band's infectious funk-rock single, before moving through the heavy grooves of “Power”, the politically charged “Piece Now” and the extended psychedelic feel of “She’s Just Naturally Bad”. Former Country Joe & The Fish musician David Cohen contributes guitar and keyboards to the sessions.

This Real Gone Music edition marks the first reissue of the album in any format. The original recordings have been newly remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision and pressed on striking clear vinyl with black swirl.
