Jefferson Airplane – Jefferson Airplane Takes Off is the legendary San Francisco band's debut album, originally released in 1966. Recorded before Grace Slick joined the group, it captures Jefferson Airplane at the beginning of their career, when their sound was still strongly rooted in folk rock, blues and the emerging West Coast psychedelic scene.

Marty Balin takes most of the lead vocals and wrote or co-wrote much of the material, including the band's first single, “It's No Secret”. Alongside Balin, the early line-up features Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Skip Spence and original female vocalist Signe Anderson.

Tracks such as “Blues From An Airplane”, “Bringing Me Down”, “Come Up The Years” and “Run Around” already display the vocal harmonies, electric guitar interplay and adventurous arrangements that would soon become central to the Jefferson Airplane sound. The album also includes their versions of “Tobacco Road” and Dino Valenti's “Let's Get Together”.

This Culture Factory USA Limited Collector’s Edition presents the original 11-track album in Mini-LP / vinyl-replica style packaging, with the audio remastered in 24-bit high definition.
