mel powell: the best things in life
Mel Powell spent many years as keyboard player with Benny Goodman, part of a rhythm section considered to be the best Goodman ever had. He then went into academia as Professor of Composition at Yale, so this compilation of 1953-1956 recordings are rare examples of a return to his jazz roots. John Hammond produced, notes in the CD are by Sam Charters.
