the john renbourn sampler

In the words of British guitar-god John Renbourn, founding member of the influential folk-rock group Pentangle, “the tracks on this record [1971] have been taken from previous albums, made in all kinds of places, some of them recording studios.” Although Pentangle was at the height of its popularity in 1971, Renbourn always maintained an identity as a solo artist as is evident in this superior showcase of primarily traditional folk tunes & instrumentals. Featuring appearances by fellow Pentangle members Bert Jansch and Jacquie McShee.
