the rayne: the rayne

Limited black-vinyl LP with illustrated band insert

Recorded in 1966 and 1967, these previously unreleased recordings capture The Rayne, a young group from Yonkers, New York, combining melodic garage rock with psychedelic pop and a distinctly West Coast-influenced atmosphere. Swirling organ, male and female lead vocals and carefully arranged multi-part harmonies give the material a polished sound beyond the band’s local origins.

Original compositions such as “Graffiti,” “But Come Tomorrow” and “Requiem” balance memorable pop melodies with darker psychedelic touches. The second side includes energetic interpretations of “Somebody to Love,” “Do You Believe in Magic” and “Sunday Will Never Be the Same,” alongside later recordings that complete the group’s story. Originally preserved only on acetates, the material receives its first proper vinyl presentation on this limited Void Records edition, supplied with an illustrated band insert.
