Blodwyn Pig were formed after guitarist and vocalist Mick Abrahams left Jethro Tull following the release of their debut album in 1968. Joined by Jack Lancaster on saxophones, flute and violin, Andy Pyle on bass and vocals, and Ron Berg on drums, Abrahams created a band that combined blues-rock power with jazz-inspired arrangements and progressive underground energy.

The group quickly became a major attraction on the UK underground circuit. Their two albums, Ahead Rings Out from 1969 and Getting To This from 1970, both reached the UK Top Ten, while the band also enjoyed single success with Same Old Story. After Abrahams left in late 1970 to follow a solo path, former Yes guitarist Peter Banks briefly joined, but the original group soon came to an end.

In 1974, Abrahams briefly revived Blodwyn Pig, leading to a John Peel BBC session and a notable performance for Radio 1’s In Concert programme. This remastered 3CD clamshell box brings together the band’s Chrysalis albums and singles from 1969 and 1970, alongside the surviving BBC radio recordings from 1969 to 1974.
