ROYAL SERVANTS: We (LP)

Royal Servants were the direct predecessors of Eulenspygel, and We is their only album under this name. Originally released in 1970 on Elite Special, the record catches the group at a fascinating point between beat roots, psychedelic rock and the more expansive German progressive sound that would soon define their next phase.

The album is built around extended, English-language underground rock pieces such as We and Latin Underground, with Hammond organ, guitar, flute and a loose rhythmic feel giving the music a colourful early Krautrock atmosphere. Shorter tracks like Someone To Be With Me, Private Man and Doomsday Up To Date add contrast, while this Garden Of Delights LP edition also includes three bonus tracks from the group’s single material.
